Our Youth Leaders

Our youth leaders are pretty special, in the 6 years ive been at youth ive been truely blessed to have them in my life teaching, guiding and supporting me.
Our leaders couls have been doing better things then spend every friday night with us like ironing, watching TV repeats or hanging out with their mates but they choose to serve God and us each week by leading us.

i think sometimes we take for granted all tehy do for us, with text messages, phone calls, hanging out, planning events and even praying for us regularly. we are truely blessed to have them.

Lord, i pray for the blessing our leaders are in our life. Thankyou for giving them a servant heart to serve in youth ministry. i thank you for the impact they have made in so many lives and what they are yet to do. Lord i pray for what they plan for next year and for what you have instore. some will continue to work or study full time but lord some will change jobs or finish study and i pray that you bless them in wherever you are leading them. Lord i thank you that you have placed our leaders here to teach and equip us. i pray for all the youth leaders around our nation i thank you for what they are doing and the heart you have given them. i pray that you will continue to bring up new youth leaders and build up strong people of faith. in Jesus' name, Amen

The day I found my voice

For some of you who know me really well, you might be thinking, Nicole has always had a voice. But I want to tell you, this weekend I found my voice. It wasn't really lost, but it wasn't confident. It was hidden behind the fear of being judged or boxed a certain way. This weekend just gone we had the Presbytery and Synod meeting for the SA Uniting Church.  This is the business and governance (or AGM) meeting for the whole church.   I have been a member for a number of years at this meeting, but haven't really spoken on matters at the microphone.  This weekend, I went to the mic, not just once, but 4 or 5 times. Young leaders development...

So I'm a  youth pastor right, it's something that sometimes I say out loud and it still blows my mind. It's something I always wanted to be and I am that now.  I don't know if I'm doing a good job, i thonk I'm doing alright, I might not be as cool or successful as some of my other youth pastor friends but I feel like I'm doing alright.  Last week I went to NYMC Encore which was a day conference for those in youth ministry.  It was a great day and totally worth  coming back the 400kms  to adelaide for the day, I got to see my friends, my family, my support network. But I heard from God too. Both on a personal level and also for my ministry.  One question I am left with after the conference is about young leaders.   Now I would consider myself a young leader. At 21 , I am young, I have been blessed with many leadership opportunities well beyond my years, but in still a young leader . I'm still leading about who I am and my style of leadership.

Beautiful things

You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of the dust You make beautiful things You make beautiful things out of us I was reminded of this song when i was struggling, struggling to see good out of my situation, struggling to see myself in the same way God sees me and struggling to see how God could use me and my situation for good. these lines just went through my head on repeat and i began to again see the beauty in things all around me. Beauty in others, in the environment, in Art, in music, Even beauty in the hard times. I was reminded of Gods great love and how indeed the things in life, in our world which we take for granted are beautiful things which God created. This song played on repeat in my head as i road tripped to Canberra with friends. As we drove through the plains and the hills and through the country i was blessed with such beauty. Even the dust storm had a certain beauty to it :) God makes Beautiful things!!!
